Symptoms of a Hearing
Loss
Concerned about loss of hearing?
Just as each individual is different, so too is a persons hearing
loss. No two people will loose hearing ability in the same way. For
example, some losses occur in the higher frequency ranges while
others may experience difficulty in lower frequencies.
If you are experiencing any of the following symptoms, you should
have your hearing evaluated by a hearing professional:
1. Listening difficulty at a restaurant with family
and friends.
2. A hearing loss is suspected by family
members.
3. Your spouse often tells you he/she frequently has
to repeat things for you to understand.
4. You attend church services or other social events
less often because of difficulty communicating with
people.
5. You find it necessary to turn up the volume on your
TV or radio beyond a normal level.
6. You experience feelings of frustration when you
speak with others and have difficulty hearing everything they
say.
7. People often seem to "mumble."
8. You notice that you need to be close to someone to
hear what they are saying.
9. You notice that you need to look at people to
understand what they are saying.
10. You frequently hear people laugh and did not understand
what was said.
11. You sometimes find that you must "think" about what was
spoken to you before you understand what was said.
12. You sometimes hear a "ringing" or " buzzing" in your ears.
